چکیده

We present a simple method for robot registration in computer tomography imaging systems. The method uses the laser markers readily available on any CT scanner and does not require imaging thus eliminating radiation exposure. Its accuracy is inherited from the laser positioning system. This approach does not require additional hardware, laser alignment being performed on the instrument used in the clinical application. Moreover, robotic guidance allows for radiological interventions to be performed on scanners without fluoro-CT capability. Unlike the manual approach, the method allows for performing oblique insertions, for which the skin entry point and the target are located in different slices. The implementation is realized using the latest version of the PAKY-RCM robot developed in our laboratory. This is an increased precision system based on our new Ball-Worm technology. The system was successfully used for five CT-guided biopsy and radiofrequency ablation procedures on the kidney and spine and a nephrostomy tube placement. Further investigation will explore its application to other organs and procedures.

Percutaneous laser photocoagulation of osteoid osteoma: Assessment of treatment in nine cases

ABSTRACT Background: Osteoid osteoma is a benign bony neoplasm and its classic treatment is surgery. In the r ecent decades percutaneous laser therapy was suggested to be replaced by surgery. In this study we have reviewed the results of the first applications of interstitial laser photocoagulation (ILP) for treatment of osteoid osteoma in Iranian patients. Materials and Methods: In this case s...

First experience with laser guided percutaneous pedicle screw placement in the lumbar spine

Since many years surgeons are trying to optimize pedicle screw placement in spine surgeries to reduce severe complications. Intraoperative image guidance could improve the accuracy in pedicle screw placement (Tain 2011). However no significant reduction of complications could be seen (Verma 2010). With the implementation of robotic 3D flat-panel detectors in hybrid operating rooms a new form of...

New Pseudo-CT Generation Approach from Magnetic Resonance Imaging using a Local Texture Descriptor

Background: One of the challenges of PET/MRI combined systems is to derive an attenuation map to correct the PET image. For that, the pseudo-CT image could be used to correct the attenuation. Until now, most existing scientific researches construct this pseudo-CT image using the registration techniques. However, these techniques suffer from the local minima of the non-rigid deformation energy f...
